Chalet Staff live on ground floor - separate
entrance
This is a six bedroomed catered
chalet on two floors situated opposite the cable car station
at Le Fornet, Val d'Isere.
Entrance to the chalet in the
winter is on the ground floor via the garage / boot room, complete
with boot warmer (there is usually too much snow in winter to
be able to use the front door!). From the dining room, which
has a large south-facing balcony, there is a spectacular view
of the Le Fornet cable car and Le Foret piste (very black!).
This ski chalet is wonderfully positioned both for easy access
to skiing / snowboarding and to the Train Rouge, the efficient
bus service one uses to get around Val d'Isere when not skiing.
In the morning, to get
access to the skiing & boarding of Val d'Isere, a stroll
of about 75 metres from the chalet's ski boot room takes you
to the Fornet cable car, which will whisk you up the mountain.
If you are one of these people who like to be on the first ski
lift of the day you will be perfectly placed. For those wishing
to go to the nursery slopes in the village the bus stop is right
outside the chalet with the first bus starting at 8.30am. Le
Fornet also contains one of Val d'Isere's most well-liked restaurants,
L'Arolay. It is very popular both at lunchtimes and evenings
(particularly Wednesday evenings).
Meals
Breakfast
is provided every morning and consists of tea, coffee, fruit juice,
porridge, muesli, cereal, yoghurts, plus bread, jams and honey.
In addition, there will ba a variety of cooked items offered each
day, eg: fried egg and sausages, scrambled egg with croissants,
with a full English breakfast offered on one day per week.
On the chalet staff day off breakfast is a D.I.Y affair, with
guests being given the opportunity to cook their own breakfast!
Afternoon tea is prepared and
left out for you to help yourself after your skiing or snowboarding,
and consists of tea, coffee, hot chocolate, bread, jams, etc.,
plus a homemade cake or biscuits or scones.
Dinner, normally served around
eight o'clock, is a delicious three course meal plus cheese accompanied
by good quality house red and white wine with coffee and tea to
finish.
For those guests perhaps wanting to purchase another wine for
a special occasion, we have a short wine list available in all
chalets.
Let us know in advance if there are vegetarians or individuals
with specific food allergies, and we will make sure that the menus
are devised with these requirements in mind.
